It is the second largest freshwater lake in Asia by volume, containing 70% of Mongolia's total freshwater and 0.48% of the world's freshwater. You will not only see the lake, but also get to know the local people, walk through the high mountains and forests of the taiga, and take an unforgettable trip by boat.
You will fly from Busan City to Murun, one of the small towns in Mongolia. This region is famous for its majestic snow-capped mountains, deep blue lakes, dense forests, and vast open valleys — a land of pristine natural beauty. It is also known for its untouched landscapes, historical landmarks, and the presence of rare plants and wildlife. Upon arrival in Murun, you will board your tour bus and head toward Lake Khuvsgul. In the evening, you will have dinner by the lakeside and spend a relaxing night by the shore of the lake.
Lake Khuvsgul is a freshwater lake located 1,645 meters above sea level. It is the largest by volume and deepest lake in Mongolia, and is considered one of the world’s seventeen ancient lakes — estimated to be around 2 million years old. During this day, you will visit the homeland of the Tsaatan, or reindeer herders, a unique ethnic group living in the taiga region of Khuvsgul Province. You will stay overnight at a tourist camp.
You will wake up to fresh mountain air and enjoy an exciting speedboat trip on Lake Khuvsgul to the famous Wishing Rock. Legend says that if you whisper your wishes to this rock, they will come true. After dinner, enjoy a bonfire under the starry night sky.
After breakfast, you will enjoy a horseback riding tour through the beautiful natural scenery. You will also take a short hiking trip and spend a relaxing evening by the lakeshore.
After breakfast, travel by bus to Murun Airport and take a domestic flight to Ulaanbaatar. On the way to Terelj National Park, you will visit Sain Noymon Monastery and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Mongolia.
You will visit Aryabal Monastery, Turtle Rock, Princess Temple, and the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex. In the evening, return to the tourist camp and rest.
You will visit the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, explore a cashmere factory, and enjoy free time shopping in Ulaanbaatar before dinner.
